Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Coaching enables you to set short and long terms goals in order to take control of your life and make meaningful steps forward. Your coach will help you create accountability, motivation and results. You will examine present actionary steps to obtain your desired short term goals. Coaching services lack the restrictions guided by a professional board allowing you and your coach more freedom when it comes to a meeting location, frequency and session structure. Coaching is not designed to treat or diagnose underlining mental health condition.
Psychotherapy can be a wonderful start to exploring underlinging mental health illnesses and symptoms. Assessment and diagnosis of a mental health condition can be treated with this approach. You and your therapist will examine past events and actions impacted by maladaptive coping patterns. Usually treatment is to achieve a long term goal. Treatment is governed by a professional licensing baord with legal and ethical restrictions.
PWC can help guide you towards to right approach to meet your objectives. Contact us to find out more.
One benefit of a Wellness Village is having combined coaches or therapists working together with you (or loved ones) to address specific needs. For example, if you are attending family therapy and you discover a relationship goal you wish to work on in couples counseling to strengthen your family relationships (i.e. communication, trust, etc.) well PWC got you! We offer team support by combining family and relationship coaching and/or therapy
A second benefit of a Wellness Village (by far our favorite) is our unique internal collaboration approach when working on a case together. We have reduced the need of having to refer you out with the hassle of getting paperwork signed just to collaborate with your other provider. At PWC everyone on your team is on the SAME PAGE, therefore we are able to provide comprehensive and collaborative treatment that strengths the outcome of your goals.
Although coaching or therapy can be specific services for one unit of treatment (i.e. individuals, couples, or family) research has shown that sometimes it takes a village to address more than one issue that can have lasting impact on yourself and the people you love.
Absolutely! Let's check out which options are the best for you. When you select one of the service types, either coaching or therapy, you will work with a specialized wellness coach or therapist to identify the specific area (i.e. relationship, spirituality, parenting, etc.) of life that you would like to work on for a more enjoyable, desirable, and satisfying life.
To work on multiple areas of life, select a Village Package that's just right for you and build your team that will collecitively work with you to help live a life of progress and fulfillment.
The number of wellness coaching sessions per month depends on you.
You can work out a schedule with your coach that fits your lifestyle and desired goals.
For therapy services, it is suggested to maintain weekly sessions until you and your provider discuss a plan to decrease sessions.
Cultural orientation is a significant aspect of one’s worldviews and a marked distinction across cultures is between collectivistic and individualistic orientations.
Collectivistic cultures emphasize the needs and goals of the group as a whole over the needs and desires of each individual. In such cultures, relationships with other members of the group and the interconnectedness between people play a central role in each person's identity. Many theories suggest that individuals from the African diaspora often lean more towards values of interconnectedness and hold the belief that what we do individually has an impact on all members of the community.
Although we must always be conscious of portraying any group of people as homogenous, it is important to be aware of culture and its influence on one’s values, beliefs and ways of viewing self in the world and in the community. Cultural competence and humility is vital to succeed in a therapeutic relationship and we at PWC place awareness on this truth.
Our approach to wellness makes things simple so you can focus on the things that matter, YOU! What makes us unique is our variety of specialities. We're a ONE STOP SHOP for most populations and areas of concern. We want our clients to have the best so if medication is necessary, we will link you with our network of psychiatrists serving OUR community.
Because we are a community wellness service, costs for services go back into OUR community enabling us to continue to provide what you need. Therefore we accept online payments of all major credit/debit cards and FSA cards.
At this time we do not accept insurance and are considered out-of-network. However, we support our clients by providing a superbill for insurance reimbursement. Whether or not your insurance will reimburse you for the session will depend on your insurance plan for out-of-network services. Contact your insurance provider to ask how much your out-of-network benefits cover.
